BATIKS AND PAPER QUILLING.

Tuesday was really a lot of fun. It started off with my morning class doing a watercolor batik. Patty didn't make it for class, but we did have a new student, Jean. The girls really loved doing this and we have picked out a big one to do possibly next month. I will be ordering them from the Artist, Kathie George.

This is Theresa adding a wash to her piece.

And this is Jean and she is drying her piece so that she can add another layer of wax.

And now for our finished pieces.

Aren't these really nice? And you can tell by the smiles on their faces that they really enjoyed this class.

Then for the night class, finally we got to learn how to do Paper Quilling. I loved it. This is a craft that you are either going to love or just not get it. There were three of us taking the class and two of us are hooked, and the third one is going to try a different class. Our teacher, Arden, has been doing it forever and was thrilled to be able to do a class. She is such a sweet lady and we are very lucky to have her with us.

Arden is helping Joanie with the stems to her flowers that she was making.

Brenda joined us for her first class. She made some beautiful flowers. and Joanie is hiding her face while showing us her flowers. Then next is the three pots that we did, fun, fun, fun!
Next week we are going to do a blue bird. This is an art that nuns started doing in the 13 th century. They used quills from birds for the rolling of the paper. I saw this in a book and picked it up and loved what I saw. Then I tried to find someone to teach me and couldn't. One day while I was sitting in the studio Arden walked in and asked me if I was interested in paper quilling. I about fell out of my chair! And that is how our quilling class came to be.
Tomorrow is a busy day, Crochet class and painting class. I love Thursday classes, and I'm already looking forward to all the laughter.

Myles and classes

My baby Myles, isn't he just the cutes thing? This is a picture of him in his little play area at the studio. He is still so tiny, but I think he is starting to gain some of his weight back.

I didn't post last week about my classes, well I did on Tuesday class, but not Thursday night. Now get this, I had three students and all three were named Kathy, Kathy, and Cathy. Now talk about being confusing.

This is Kathy, and it looks like she is having a good time. We spent the night practicing different strokes. See Myles in the backgound?

This is Kathy, my demon helper. She likes to
come take classes too. She really helps to keep the laughter going.

And this is my friend Cathy, and it was her first night for class. She is the one that introduced me to a lot of other painters in the area. Everyone thinks that we are sisters, so we just tell everyone that we are twins separated at birth.
We also had our first night crochet class. We decided to do both classes at one time, we have pleny of room, so the more the merrier.

This is Joanie, our crochet teacher, and she is teaching Margaret for her first night. Joanie is in the white.

Margaret has been a friend for a few years. Her son was a good friend to my oldest son and we got to know each other that way.

This is our sweet Maria. Isn't she a beautiful woman . She is our neighbor and comes up with Joanie on Thursday nights. She sits there and knits while Joanie crochets. She is a woman full of wisdom, beauty and love.

Now for some pictures of my studio.

This is the entrance, or at least what you see when you walk in the door.
The items on the wall are pieces that I've painted, along with some of the windows. The purses are things that Joanie has crochet.
Okay, that is it for now. I'll post more later.
have a great night.

Myles is home and I've been tagged.

My baby is home!!!!!! I love having him back where he belongs, but I'm so scared that he is going to do something to hurt himself. He really is not supposed to run, jump, or play. Well hello, he is a puppy and wants to do all of that. Right now I am keeping him contained, all day long. I get him out and hold him while I'm painting or just walk around with him. Bless his heart. I had to get a small kennel because his playpen offers more room than he is supposed to play in. This is going to be a long 8 weeks, but hey, I'll do what ever I need to do for him. Know what I mean? And thank you all for your many e-mails and comments about him. It is amazing how people I have never met can care so much.

Okay, I've been tagged. FarmChick from Fresh From The Farm has tagged me. How exciting, my very first tag. lol.

Here’s the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

My seven facts.
1. I broke my shoulder in first grade. We had a small horse and she went up a hill and decided to go down it without me holding on. When she stopped my body decided to do a fancy dismount, but it didn't let my brain know so that I could put my feet down.
2. When my husband and I got married, he met me half way down the alise and walked me the rest of the way. My father had passed away in 1976, so Phil knew I needed help that day adn he took care of me. I was and am still blessed.
3. My favorite dessert is the chocolate brownie with ice cream that is served at WOW. World of Wings, I think is the name. It is to die for. Hmm,,,, maybe that is where I will have Phil take me tonight, it is Saturday and I can have dessert tonight.
4. I will be celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary on the 26th of this month.
5. I used to loved reading, still do just not as much. I would pick up every book I could and read it. It is like I had a fear that there would be books out there that I wouldn't be able to read. It would be nothing for me to stay up all night long just to read. Now I do good to get a paragraph read.

Now for the fun part of tagging others.

1. Sandy at Dream Create Inspire
Sandy is my friend that introduced me to the world of blog land. She is a great artist, go check
her out.
2. Becky at Stitching for Life
Becky and I have been friends since 1969, and it is a friendship that has survived being apart
many, many, many years. Did I mention that we have been apart for years? But we do see
each other at least once a year, and sometimes 4 times. And we talk just about every day, via
internet and cell phones. Go check her out and welcome her to the world of bloggers.
3. Suzy at Dream Keyper
I found this blog site while doing the OWOH, and I fell in love with the site, the sisters, and
their work. Then when names were drawn I was so thrilled to find out that I had won their
giveaway. If you haven't visited them before then do yourself a favorite and go visit.
4. Denise at Denise's Little Birdie Studio
I've just met her this week. She came in and left a very sweet message about Myles and so I
went and visited her blog. I love her work. Go check her out and see what I mean.
5. Jo Anne at Paper Cat's Page
Jo Anne is another person that I met thru OWOH. She was one of my winners, I sent her the
jar with little fish on it. Anyway, she is a person with a loving heart, and does beautiful work.
Matter of fact, she has a new project going on right now, go visit her and get involved. It
sounds like a great idea.
6. Gabriela at Gabriela Delworth's Blog
This is a blog that I found when doing the OWOH and I loved it. She makes Paper Crowns
and they are so much fun. Pure fun. If you have never been there before you have got to
check these crowns out.
7. Terisa at Running with Scissors
I pick Terisa because when I first posted on my blog about my friend Becky being new to
blogland, and asked for some to go welcome her Terisa was one of them. There were about 8
bloggers that welcomed her and so I picked a name from there. I appreciate everyone that
goes that extra mile to welcome and help others.

Okay, that is it. Now I am going to go in and tag all of these wonderful people. Thanks for visitng and come again soon.

Going to bed.

Hi, I wanted to stay up long enough to post pictures of my sweet Myles tonight, but I think I'm coming down with something and I need to go to bed. Let me just tell you that I got tosee him today, and he is beautiful. As soon as I held him I could tell that e has lost a lot of weight. Now realize this, Myles only weighted 3 pounds when he went into the hospital so he doesn't have that much to lose. I got lots and lots of kisses, and at the end of our time together he was laying his head on my chest and we just lost ourselves in our time together. They did tell me that I probably won't be able to bring him home until Friday. Can't wait.

I'll post more later, right now I just need to go to sleep.

Two post in one day.

I just need to share with you about my class this morning. I really believe that God puts people in your life at the right time, and I believe that he has brought two special angels into my life at this time. Theresa and Patty are my Tuesday morning faithfuls, and today I was in a rare form. I was worked up about Myles and a lot of other things that have been on my plate for a while and I just stood there, or sat there, and unloaded. And they let me just talk and talk and talk. They shared too, and at times we were crying and then laughing. I felt so much better after they left, I even got a hug. It is funny, we've only been together for a few weeks, but I felt so comfortable sharing with them today. What a blessing!

Tuesday night update.

Myles has had his surgery and is doing well. The doctor called me around 7:00 tonight and gave me the update. Good news in the fact that there were only two bones damaged, not three. We still don't know if he will be lame, or what. I get to go see him tomorrow afternoon and I can hardly wait. I want to get my hands on him so bad and give him lots of kisses and hugs. i do love that little man.
I'll take a photo tomorrow and send it out so that you an see him. He is so sweet.
thanks,
Charlie

Tuesday update.

Finally got to talk with the doctor and got some questions answered. Myles will be in surgery this afternoon, and the surgery should be about 1 1/2 hours long, depending on how many bones are broken. She said that until they get in there they can't be sure if it is 2 or 3 bones. If there are only two bones involved his healing should go well and he shouldn't have many side effects. If there are three bones involved then his healing will take longer and he might have some lameness or arthrist(sp). He will need to stay in the hospital for at least two nights and when he gets to come home he will not be able to run, jump, or play for 6 weeks. Can you believe that? But what ever it takes, I'm going to do it.
I'll be back in later with more news on Myles.
thanks,
Charlie

Myles update, Monday night.

Still no Myles, still no surgery. The doctor finally called tonight after 6:00p.m., and that was after I had called them over ten times. They had two emergencies that came in, so they bumped Myles and didn't get to him. Am I upset? you had better believe it. I know, it wasn't a life and death situation, but he is my baby and I want him fixed so that he doesn't have any pain. And I want him home. He is on the schedule for tomorrow, I just don't know what time yet. Thank you for all of the calls, e-mails, and prayers for him. I'll write again tomorrow to let you know how he is.
thanks.
Charlie

here are some photos of Myles from last night at Drake's birthday party.
This is me holding him while he gives me some kisses. And this is big sister Samantha holding him. The purple wrap is the broken leg, the green wrap is the I.V. in his leg.

Myles update.

Myles is back at the hospital this morning, waiting for his surgery. They are going to be putting screws in his little leg, but the doctor assures me that he will not have complications from this as he continues to grow. His pain was so high this morning that when I picked him up to take him this morning he started crying and actually bit my finger in his pain. Bless his heart. They told me that they would take him straight back and start the IV again to help maintain his pain. I just want them to help him so that he isn't in so much pain. My Doctor also assures me that the doctor doing the surgery is the best in town and that I should feel comfortable with Myles being there.

I'll pop back in later and let you know what I find out.
thanks,
Charlie

Myles is in the hospital.

Hi, came home today from the studio, put Myles down so that he could go to the yard and potty. Drake was with us and he took off running and ran over Myles, it was an accident, but he really ended up hurting Myles. Myles kept crying and crying, so I decided to take hi to the Animal Emergency Hospital where they fianlly told me that he was going to need surgery. His little elbow was broken and his growth plate was in the wrong place now. They also told me that his pain level was way too high, and that they would have to keep him with them overnight. I might get to pick him up tomorrow and bring him home for the day, but then he will have to go back on Monday for the surgery. It broke my heart to leave him there tonight. He is with me everywhere I go, and now he is there by himself. I asked it he could have his little blanket but they wouldn't let him keep it. Man oh man, I miss my little man. And poor Drake, he knew that something had happened but didn'tknow what to do. They when I came home tonight all of the other dogs were looking for Myles. It is funny how they knew that something was different.
Well, I'm going to bed now, I hope to bring my baby home tomorrow.
night,
Charlie

Having a hard time with my posts.

Well, this is the third post that I am trying to write and get saved. I was trying to add pictures and then I lost them and got everything all messed up. I want to post pictures of my classes and what my great students did this week. I'll try to work on them again tomorrow, the pictures that is. My Tuesday morning class is so sweet. Right now there are only two women in there with me, but it is perfect. Both women have only been in the area for a year or two and have been needing a place to belong. They are sharing their lives with each other, and have found a haven for themselves. They both have such sweet spirts, and it is really nice to be around them. As they were talking about how much it meant to them to come in to the studio it only reafirmed my dream for the studio. I wanted it to be a place where women,or men, could come and have a safe haven from all of life's problems and stress. When they come in thru my doors I want them to feel as if they have come home, does that make sense? I have a sofa, with recliners on both ends, a massage chair, t.v., microwave, oven, and ice machine. All the comforts of home. LOL. But I am serious, I want things to be so nice that they want to come in to the studio, to like it as much as I do. Hey, I even like to take naps up there and I sleep really well there. See, dreams do come true.

Okay, good night for now. I'll pop back in later.
Charlie

Oh so quiet!

Thursday night's class so so quiet, and there was even a full house. I had four students and then there was a crochet class in the front with three people, and still it was quiet. For once everyone was concentrating on what they were doing. Not that we don't concentrate every week, but last night was different. I really think that the project that I had them doing was too much for one class, it was my fault. Sorry to all of my students this week, and I'll try not to squeeze so much into a class.

Here are some pictures from the two classes that I had this week, and also from the crochet class.Theresa and Patty are working hard to get their pattern in the right place, and Myles is working hard catching some zzzzzz's.

Isn't he just the cutest thing? And he is
so sweet and cute and very good while at the studio with me. His favorite thing to do is for me to hold him while I'm painting. He just sits in my arm for as long as I want to hold him. He just fills my heart with so much love.

Theresa and Patty both liked there pieces and are looking forward to next weeks project. We are going to work on strokes the whole class, instead of trying to finish a piece. We are going to work on Donna's pretty paisley for class, and that is what I did for my level two. I decided to introduce this to the class because it has so many different strokes and new ideas to introduce to them.
Thursday night class started with a great surprise, Ms. Judy was back again. I hadn't seen her since before Christmas and I'm so glad that she was back with us. Her side kick, Diane was with her and she was very missed.

Everytime I look at Judy she just has a sweet smile on her face. Sitting next to her and concentrating so hard is Penni. She is a character, you just never know what she is going to say.
Ms. Pat was taking a break from the painting and talking to the other women. She was behind, but we got her caught up and then she surpassed all of us.

And Kathy is sitting with her back to me, she is still really quiet, but she is loosing up some. And she shared with us that she has lost 69 pounds now with Weight Watcher. I need her around me to keep encouraging me so that I can lose my 50.
see, God sent me an Angel.

Ms Judy got one of her finished and is showing off with a beautiful smile. She said that Diane is going to be upset that she didn't come cause this project would have looked great in her house.

Kathy did great with her piece too. I love seeing how everyone does the same thing, but with their own style.

Here is Penni, and she did great. She will finish her other urn when she gets home. She has plans of hanging this on one of her walls in her house.

-
Of course when I took her photo she wanted to pretend like she was Wilson, off of Tim Allen's show, and let us just see her eyes. Funny Girl.
And I can't leave out my Ms. Pat. She has been so faithful in coming to class, being an encourager to me when I have needed it. She is a special blessing in my life. She is not allowed to drive at nights now, so my Demon Elf, which has to come up with a new name since it isn't Christmas anymore, has voluteered to pick her up each night and drive her home. Such a sweet Demon. LOL.

And of course, what would a photo opt be if I didn't have Myles in there for all to see. He was very good Thursday night, but he did keep us busy with changing his pee pee pads. He was have gotten ahold of something that wasn't good for him.
And our friendly Demon is showing us what she learned in crochet class. Joanie and Ellen left before I got the camera out, but I'll get them next time.
Okay, that is all for now. I'm going to go and get some rest. Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend. I am going to an auction tonight, and I'm looking forward to going. Take care and I'll write more next week.
Charlie

Today is the day for the One World, One Heart big giveaway.

This is almost like Christmas, but you just don't know if you are really going to get anything or not. But I know who is getting my items, and I'm getting ready to send the info to them. It was fun doing the random number pick, and then going to read the names. How fun!!!

For my first giveaway is going to Pea's Corner and she is located in Canada. I am sending her one of my first clay projects. It is a flower vase that I did a flaux finish on and then made the roses to place on it. I sure do hope she likes it.

And since I had so many comments I decided to pull a second number and this time the giveaway goes to Jo Anne O. at Paper Cat's Edge, and she lives in Pennsylvania. I am sending her a jar that is painted with cute little fish. This is one of my best sellers, so I hope it becomes one of her favorites.

Well, I guess that is it for now. I've got to tell you that I've had a ton of fun going in and meeting other people out there and seeing and reading all of these blogs. Don't be surprised it I don't pop in from time to time. Thanks,

Charlie

Classes are back and in full swing.

Have I told you before that I love my classes? Well, I do. I get to meet some of the nicest and funniest women, and sometimes even men. I was a little nervous about starting classes back up, I kept wondering if students would come back or would I have to start all over again. It had been since before Christmas when I held my last class. But, I was blessed this week with 4 new students and 2 of my regulars.

This week we painted a rooster, it had been requested by a regular student. The new students really seemed to like it, it was a good way to introduce them to One Stoke painting, and they had a nice project to take home with them.

My friend, Sandy, gave me a couple of her class plans and I decided to start doing my classes like her's. So now when my students get there I give them a laminated copy of the strokes that we are doing, along with the written instructions. It is a great item for them to have and to take home to be able to practice on their own. Everyone seemed happy with the new ideas. Thank you Sandy!

Okay, here are the pictures from this week's classes.

This is Patty, and it was her first class with me. She has been living in the area for a little over a year and was so excited to be in here painting.

This is Kathy's first time with me. She has painted before, but it has been a while. She seemed really quiet, but with Pat and Kathy S. in the class no one can stay quiet for long. It was funny, Pat thought that Kathy was using my supplies and so Pat was helping herself to Kathy's supplies. It was so funny when Pat realized that she was using Kathy's and not mine. And Kathy
didn't say a thing, just let her use them. It was a great ice breaker for everyone.

Penni joined us last night for the first time, and she fit right in. She was telling jokes and joining in with the others. It was like she had been here all along.

This is Theresa, and it was her first time also. She has been living here for about two years ago and was thrilled to see my ad in the paper. She looks so familiar to me, but we really have never met before, how funny is that?

I just realized that I forgot to take a picture of Ms. Pat and Kathy S.'s roosters. Oops. But I did remember to take a picture of Myles, and he is here for every class. Isn't he just way too cute?

Okay, I'm going to work now. Got things to paint and clay to play with. Thanks for visiting and please come again soon.
thanks,
and remember to dream the impossible and aim for it.
Charlie
